February 16, 2017. A new tactile navigation technology was unveiled to the public today during NTT’s R&D Forum in Tokyo.
Thanks to the innovative and advanced hardware device developed by NTT (Buru-Navi) and the ongoing collaboration with NTT Data Italia, we were able to present the world with a device that “leads you by the hand,” as if it were a good friend in a time of need.
In fact, thanks to our sophisticated localization algorithms, the Buru-Navi hardware device has been fully automated by integrating our localization platform and enabling precise tactile guidance indoors.
The result is exciting: you have a device that can operate as a navigator without a screen and without sound in any condition whether inside or outside buildings. The version that was shown at the Forum consists of a “simple” smartphone cover that integrates Buru-Navi’s advanced hardware and our location and navigation algorithms. Other configurations will be possible to serve all kinds of needs in both open and closed environments.
We are of course proud not only to be part of such an important project, but also because this once again demonstrates the excellence of our hybrid-geomagnetic indoor localization technology which, through continuous R&D activities, is becoming more and more instrumental in solving complex problems every day.
