ARDK: visual tracking and augmented reality

Turn the smartphone camera into a window onto physical space. ARDK helps your app follow device movement and place digital content where it belongs, creating augmented reality experiences connected to real places.

01 The kit

AR experiences that respond to space

ARDK combines visual information with device movement to support tracking and anchored content. It can contribute to an MDK location flow or work on its own, depending on the experience you want to build. Start with the ARDK overview to see how it fits into your app.

02 Visual data

From movement to scene

Use camera data to follow the device’s position and orientation, or to display virtual content over the camera view. The right approach depends on your goal: a map that follows movement, contextual information or on-screen AR guidance.

The session guide explains the available modes and how to manage them in your app.

03 Anchors

Content anchored to places

Markers help recognize references in the environment and anchor directions or digital objects to physical points. This makes the experience easier to follow: content appears where it matters to the user. Stability should be tested in the actual space, with its lighting, surfaces and target devices.

See the marker guide for preparation and detection.

04 With MDK

Connect AR and location

When a project needs both location and visual content, ARDK can work with MDK. This combination brings visual tracking into the location flow and connects AR references to places represented in the app. The integration guide covers the technical connections.

With MDK

Add visual references to the location flow.

Place references

Connect AR content to recognizable points.

Coherent experience

Use location and scene to guide the user.

05 Rendering

Choose how to render the experience

ARDK can feed a graphics engine chosen by your team. For lightweight AR scenes with objects, labels and routes, you can also consider AuRea, our rendering engine currently under internal testing. Access must be discussed with us; the AuRea page introduces its capabilities.

01

Define the scene

Choose content and references to show in the place.

02

Choose the engine

Use your graphics engine or explore AuRea.

03

Test the experience

Check tracking and readability in the real space.

06 Field testing

Test the experience in the real world

Define what should appear, where it should stay anchored and which devices people will use. Then test tracking and readability in the intended environment. For installation, activation and session management, use the ARDK documentation.
