Way-Fi: navigation and route calculation
Help people reach their destination across buildings and connected outdoor spaces. Way-Fi calculates routes on your venue map, while your app decides how to present guidance to its users.
Turn places into useful routes
Way-Fi connects a starting point to one or more destinations and returns available routes. Use it to guide visitors, customers or staff across floors, buildings and outdoor areas, with a route network shaped around the real space.
The current position, when needed, comes from your app or a location component such as MDK. Way-Fi handles route calculation. The technical overview explains this separation.

Routes built around your space
Every venue has its own entrances, connections and constraints. Way-Fi lets you represent walkable routes on multiple levels and link passage points. This helps you design directions that reflect the building and adapt routes to your service needs.
The data format and level setup are covered in the layer guide.
One destination or several options
Your app can request a route to one destination or consider several destinations from the same starting point. This helps when a person is looking for an exit, a service or a nearby point of interest.
The wayfinding guide covers calculation modes and APIs; this page focuses on the experience you can offer users.
Routes for different needs
Way-Fi can return a route to one place or consider several destinations from the same starting point. Your app decides how to use the result: guide someone to a specific place, offer alternatives or show several routes. The wayfinding guide describes the modes.
One destination
Guide a user to a specific place.
Several options
Consider multiple places from one starting point.
Route choices
Present paths that best serve the experience.
From idea to field test
Before integration, identify destinations, prepare the route network and decide how your app will show directions. Then test routes in the real space, including transitions between floors and between indoor and outdoor areas. For distribution and activation, see the installation guide.
Prepare the places
Define floors, connections and destinations.
Connect the app
Choose how to provide start and end points.
Test the routes
Check directions in the real spaces.
An experience that keeps going
Way-Fi supports indoor and outdoor navigation and can work offline when the required data is already available. Pair it with MDK to connect routes and location within the same app flow, or use Way-Fi on its own.
The MDK integration guide explains how place data can be shared.
On its own
Calculate routes with your venue data.
With MDK
Bring routes and location together in the app.
Consistent data
Use matching references for floors and levels.
